なつさんとなつさんの子供達こたくんとけんたくんが来ました。とても楽しかった。あかしを見つけることをすごく楽しみしていました。
On Easter we boiled
some eggs and put candy in plastic eggs for our children’s English conversation
class.
We also made “Thumb
Bunny Loves You” craft. Making a thumbprint and then drawing on ears, etc.
We then had a lesson
with a less active. And waited at the church for a bit for our first real
lesson, watching Finding Faith in Christ,
with a family we found while housing. The family did not come.
We had a Family Home Evening
activity at the church, in which a member shared an article about following
Thomas S. Monson's example. The article was from the Liahona. We took turns reading from the article and people were
impressed with my ability to read the kanji. But they are probably just being
nice. People still laugh at my Japanese!! I bring people joy. We
then played Ping-Pong. First single and then doubles. I made everyone laugh
often. Almost got one of the Elders really good in the head once.

Japanese Stationary
Sister Breksa sends letters home on very cute Japanese stationary. They have statements in English like, "There is a doll made in Russia on the desk. My dream is traveling with her." "It is so peaceful in the forest. The bear is under the tree.""I'm now in a cheerful state of mind. I feel more refreshed than anyone."

Letter Home: Dated 7 April 2014
I
am doing great! I am at this moment
waiting to use a computer to email you guys. It was about an hour trolley ride
to get here.
I
love Taniyama! Sunday-yesterday-we had Fast and Testimony Meeting. Some one we
are teaching came for her first time! We
invited her to come last week on Saturday.
She called a member or c-mailed, or something and said that she was
coming and that Sunday morning the member called us to let us know. The members
bore their testimonies about Joseph Smith, the Plan of Salvation, Baptism, the
Book of Mormon, Temples, and receiving revelation. All of which we have not yet
taught her – but I think she felt the
Spirit. She seemed very happy.
Oh,
after church we sang the 1st verse of Called to Serve to a young man
who is leaving for his mission this month to Kobe. I thought – “what did I do
right before my mission?” I spent time
with family, filled out a last minute scholarship application, and went to the
temple. Sounds like me…
Well,
I’m learning a lot but I have much more to learn.

Letter Home: Good things come to those that wait
On Wednesday (my
last day in Iwakuni) Sister J. and I shared Mosiah 2:17 with the member who has
helped us with our bikes.
“And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn
wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings
ye are only in the service of your God.”
It made him very
happy.
We went from
door-to-door by where he lived a bit then biked over to the store to get some
things from the bakery we’ve been wanting to try, for lunch. We ate lunch as we waited for two girls we
made an appointment with the other day. They did not come, but we talked to
people while waiting.
We then talked to
some more people as we waited for anther set of girls with whom we made an
appointment with last Thursday. They did not come but while waiting we were
able to talk to a man who approached us. He committed to read the Book of
Mormon. We also got to talk to a member we saw while we were waiting. Sister J.
and I talked to a boy from Britain. We gave him a Book of Mormon and he
committed to read it. We gave him an English one, though he was willing to read
the Japanese one J. He told
his friend something like, “this is God’s guidance that we were able to meet
with these missionaries.”
It was a great day.
I am going to miss
Iwakuni. But now Taniyama is my home and focus.
