The Blessings of Scripture: King James Bible

Useful Quote

"What is the source of such moral and spiritual power, and how do we obtain it?

The source is God.

Our access to that power is through our covenants with Him. A covenant is an agreement between God and man, an accord whose terms are set by God. In these divine agreements, God binds Himself to sustain, sanctify, and exalt us in return for our commitment to serve Him and keep His commandments."

D. Todd Christofferson, Apostle of Jesus Christ

Baptism is a covenant and a commandment.

Letter Home: Dated 25 August 2014

This week

While my companion rested [she was ill]] I called people who were potentially interested in learning about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  I got to talk to a guy named ______________. I explained baptism and invited him to be baptized. He said yes, if he had the opportunity. So I proposed that we meet to learn more about baptism. The only time he could do it was the next day at 6pm in a place which is near our church building.

He came! When asked he explained the reason he wanted to meet was because he was a little unsure what baptism was and wanted to learn more.  I’m not a perfect teacher.  We probably talked about too many things. But he said the closing prayer. It was really good.

We plan to call him next week to schedule our next appointment.

Seven Samurai

The single largest undertaking by a Japanese filmmaker at the time, Seven Samurai (1954) was a technical and creative watershed that became Japan's highest-grossing movie and set a new standard for the industry. The American film, The Magnificent Seven (1960) is the Seven Samurai in the great American West.
