Letter Home: How to learn a language

Last Sunday I played the hymns for Sacrament Meeting. [I also stood up and said that I knew that God lives, Jesus is the Christ, The Book of Mormon is the word of God, Joseph Smith was a prophet and Thomas S. Monson is a prophet, I did so] completely in Japanese. I was complimented on my Japanese, my inflections, apparently, were perfect.

I feel the only reason I am learning Japanese the pace that I am is because of my prayers, service, and exact obedience and diligence. I study what I am to study, when I am to study, with a prayer and with my full attention. I then share what I have learned. Exact obedience in other areas, I feel, also help me learn.
